The Rundown: A barbarian and his friends fight to save humanity from the machinations of evil wizards.

In the ruins of a major city, a group of human slaves are being auctioned off to different mutant factions and one begins to rebel. When the humans are taken to a part of the city and thrown into the flood water to retrieve a device the mutants are hunting for, Thundarr emerges from the group to challenge and stop them.
As Thundarr fights the mutants, his friends Ookla and Ariel ride in to join him and free the humans. When one of the humans emerges with the device the mutants are hunting for, they escape with the help of a wizard who teams with others to use the device to change the world and end the threat of Thundarr the barbarian.
The Story: As a child of the 80’s and a fan of the original animated series, I am excited about this series and the first issue definitely scratches an itch to return to this dystopian future world and its awesome mixture of magic and science. Aaron does a great job of bringing the reader into this world and its dangers as well as craft both the lore of Thundarr and the relationships between the characters. I really like the twist at the end of the issue and look forward to seeing what happens next.
The Art: Baal creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue.
