The Rundown: Two members of different communities find themselves connected through murder.
Willow Haven is a suburban HOA populated by the people you expect to live there. Open Arms is a collective of people who commune and grow their own food. Though separated from each other, an event will bring two of its members together when Bianca from Willow Haven is assigned neighborhood watch duty with her friend Jill who has been missing all day. At the same time, Val from Open Arms is worried about her friend Cassie who hasn’t been seen by her daughter all day.
As the two continue their days and their lives, Bianca decides to go on her watch by herself and discovers that there is a secret tunnel beneath Willow Haven. Val discovers something similar and their excursion into the world beneath their own will not only reveal a murder, but a strange connection to both communities.
The Story: Gailey creates an interesting and engaging story in this first issue. I love the world being created in this series and the characters are really interesting. I like the buildup of tension throughout as you get to know more about the characters and the story builds to a great series of mysteries that captured my imagination and make me interested in seeing where this story goes next.
The Art: Haining delivers beautifully detailed and visually compelling art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the look of the world.
