The Rundown: Delilah chronicles her life before meeting her love and finding her purpose in the Whispered One.

A young maid makes the mistake of making her way into the hidden passages beneath Whitestone Castle and runs into Sylas Briarwood and his wife Delilah. As the archmage attempts to resurrect the woman after she is killed, she recounts her life in Wildemount and her ambition to be more. Ambition that will cause her to step on those lower in order to get the attention of those above.
At a party she meets with Trent Ikithon and Martinet Ludinus to discuss her future before meeting the man who will help shape it, Sylas. She recounts their love story, his illness and the depths she is willing to go to preserve the man she loves by making a deal with the Whispered One. A deal that will bring her and her group to Whitestone and the secrets lying beneath it.
The Story: Nijkamp and the cast create a wonderful tableau of obsession and ambition in this story. I love the world of this story and how Nijkamp weaves in the history of Exandria as well as the luminaries and figures that populate the stories Critical Role created. I loved the cameos from Ludinus as Ikithon as well as the slow descent of Delilah as she leans into her own dark impulses. A great companion piece to the animated series and a wonderful backstory for fans of Critical Role and the Vox Machina campaign.
The Art: Or creates beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and how it expands on the look of the animated series.
