The Rundown: A young woman learns a dangerous lesson in both resistance and community.

From an early age Wren has been taught to keep her head down and her mouth shut in the wake of the things she sees in her world. When a teacher drifts from the curriculum and starts teaching Wren’s class about the reality of their world, she is dragged away and never seen again. When Wren’s best friend develops a mutation, she disappears and is never seen again.

Wren’s fear turns to anger and she finds herself being inspired by the acts of resistance perpetrated by the Ultimates. Acts that she seeks to be a part of. After becoming a member of the underground resistance, Wren and her family are confronted in their home and Wren discovers that she is surrounded by a community she didn’t imagine offering help she desperately needs.

The Story: Camp delivers another thrilling, engaging and politically relevant story in this issue. I love that the focus in this issue isn’t on the super heroics of the main characters, but the fledgling, dangerous and compelling struggles of creating an organized resistance and the community that is created around that idea. A brilliant, action packed and tension filled story with some great character moments.

The Art: Frigeri delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. I loved the visuals and there are some great action moments in the story with Wren’s escape.
