The Rundown: Cyclops leads his team to rescue an ally while more threats emerge for the X-Men.

John Greycrow runs into some trouble on his latest job while Psylocke and Cyclops head into town to investigate the kidnapping of the sheriff who is their main ally with the human population. As the team gathers to work on a plan, Psylocke drops out of the mission while Glob tries to reach out to the locals with his vegetables.

The team makes their way to a boat offshore where they find the sheriff captured. As they free her, she tells them that they have walked into a trap. At the same time, Glob has a good day with the locals until someone decides to end it violently and Bohannan reaches out to his new partner who seems to be the one behind the mutants’ latest worries.

The Story: MacKay continues to craft a thrilling, engaging story for the X-Men in this series and this issue has some great action and mystery within it. I like seeing the team deal with not only their personal issues, but also the public that hates and fears them. I like the balance of the story in this issue and how each part relates to the others in interesting ways while building on tension to the final reveals.

The Art: Diaz delivers beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of this series and the imagery is brilliantly enhanced by Parsons’ inks and Sifuentes-Sujo’s vibrant colors.
