The Rundown: A mission to the moon brings something dark back.

It’s the 1960’s and NASA is sending another manned mission to the moon. As the astronauts aboard the lunar module make their way to the moon, one of them discovers too late that there is something already there. Something ancient. Something that has been waiting to be discovered.

As the entity makes its way on board the ship, it focuses on one of the astronauts and begins to ask him questions about humanity. Questions that reveal it has a long, complicated history with the species. Questions that also reveal its desire to return to Earth to experience humanity again.

The Story: Ball creates and dark, thrilling story in this first issue. I was initially intrigued by the premise, but became engaged with the story as it began to unfold. Whatever this entity is, it is incredibly interesting and equally scary. I like not knowing its intentions, but its personality is unique and I cannot wait to see where this story goes next and what this creature actually wants.

The Art: Chomichuk creates some visually disturbing and beautifully detailed imagery throughout the issue. I love the schematic images intercut with the creature and the characters.
