The Rundown: Speed takes on a challenger with a personal connection to his family.

A man working on a car in his garage has a motivation to complete it. His motivation is to repair the tarnished legacy of his father and to use his new car and experimental engine to bring down Pops Racer and his son Speed. Meanwhile, the tension between father and son continues as Pops tries to teach Speed there is more to being a race car driver and his son doesn’t want to listen.
When the family is challenged on television, Speed decides to accept the challenge and race against Cranem and his new engine. As the race speeds on, Speed finds himself on his heels trying to keep up and pushing the Mach 5 to its limits will cause a devastating loss that could cost Speed more than his car.
The Story: Pepose crafts a thrilling, entertaining story in this issue. There is great action throughout the story as well as great drama as the story creates an interesting antagonist in Cranem as sets up an interesting mystery in his rivalry with Pops. Speed and Pops’ clashes add tension to the story and the final moments make me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Tinto crafts beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and Canola’s colors pop off the page.
