The Rundown: A robot in the future sees something that could potentially change his entire world.

In a future world ruled by robots, an animatronic version of Abraham Lincoln is relegated to giving speeches on a street corner to fellow robots who not only don’t care, but actively mock him for looking like a human. Dejected and alone, Abe talks to other robots including a home helper bot who seemingly has no purpose since there are no humans left to serve. To make matters worse, when the bot begins to malfunction, it gets immediately destroyed by another bot.

He runs into his only friend, a talking bus and the pair go on a trip until Abe decides to take them both out of the city. On their way, Abe swears he sees a human and they manage to crash. After police arrive, Abe tries to tell them what he saw, but discovers quickly that there is something going on in the city and a secret he needs to uncover.

The Story: Matthew and Mark Elijah Rosenberg craft an engaging, interesting story in this first issue as well as create an intriguing world to explore. I really love the perspective this story is told from and how Abe is utilized throughout the story as he challenges both his own purpose and that of his fellow bots in the city. I like that the complication is engaging and how the presence of a possible human opens the doors to a conspiracy Abe will find himself thrust into. I am excited to see where this story goes next.

The Art: Macdonald creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the look of this world.
