The Rundown: Bruce learns a dark truth before facing off against a new threat.

In the wake of the death of Jim Gordon, Batman has been named the prime suspect and it has caused for the implementation of the Robin Initiative; a group of young, sanctioned vigilantes tasked with hunting down and bringing in Batman. Bruce cuts off all communication with everyone after reading his file and decides to pay a visit to Blackgate.

At the prison, Batman confronts Joe Chill but finds that someone is in the cell with him. Someone who not only knows who he is but also taunts him with the knowledge that he is not in control of his life. After being taunted with this knowledge and the death of Chill, Batman goes on the run only to be confronted by the Robins who are ready to take him down once and for all.

The Story: Snyder crafts a dark, thrilling story in this issue. I love the world of this story and how emotionally complicated not only the story is, but also the characters are becoming. I loved the dynamic between Waylon and Edward and how they are processing what happened to them. I liked seeing Bruce start to put pieces together and how his past informs his choices. There is a dark tension throughout the issue that leads to an exciting cliffhanger that I am excited to see play out.

The Art: Dragotta creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the use of shadow throughout the issue as well as the character designs.
