The Rundown: After their epic battle against Lord Opal, the world is tearing itself apart where they stand and Opal is on the run. Amethyst and the rest of the team regroup and as they wait to see what happens next, it becomes time for everyone to spill. There are too many secrets and missing memories between them and Tim wants answers.
Conner goes first to tell them how he made his way to Gem World and how he ended up a married father. After that, Tim goes on to reveal that he doesn’t remember Young Justice at all, but he knows someone is behind them losing their memories. Teen Lantern reveals her secrets and Jinny Hex shows them what brought her to Metropolis in the first place. Amethyst reveals her purpose on Gem World and why Opal is such a threat right before he finds a new means of attacking.
The Story: Brian Michael Bendis brings the Young Justice team back together and gives them some great interpersonal moments as they get introduced to the new members and reacquainted with each other. The story works for fans of the characters and lays the groundwork for some interesting and entertaining stories to come. The way Conner’s personal situation is handled felt a little too contrived and easy, but that’s the only real gripe I had with this issue.
The Art: John Timms’ art is beautiful and beautifully detailed. The characters look amazing and the action leaps off the page with energy and style.
