The Rundown: Young Hellboy follows his hero into adventure as another stalks him through the night.
Young Hellboy is still feeling the effects of his illness. An illness that makes him see visions of his favorite comic book hero Lobster Johnson. Visions that tell him to come on a great adventure to storm Castle Death. Unfortunately, the order hunting Hellboy has a new operative stalking the halls of the B.P.R.D. looking for him in order to fulfill their prophecy.
As a storm rages outside, Hellboy leaves the main building with the man on his heels. The custodian who promised to bring Hellboy some comics returns and finds the wreckage of Hellboy’s adventure and proceeds to look for the boy as he prepares for the next part of his adventure and not realizing the real life threat bearing down on him.
The Story: There is so much great tension throughout this story. I love how the story unfolds and how Mignola and Sniegoski raise the tension throughout with Hellboy’s fever dream making him completely oblivious to the real threat chasing him and the threat itself inching closer and closer. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next and what twists it has in store.
The Art: Rousseau delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The visuals are fun and wonderfully play into the rising tension of the story.
