The Rundown: Storm questions her place on Arrako as tensions require a new team on the red planet.
Storm’s thinks back on the battle she waged to get to the position she currently sits in and is reminded by someone on the council that she has what she wanted. At the same time, Magneto goes looking for a place to build a home for himself and meets an unusual fisherman who gives him some interesting advice as the man builds something on the surface for himself. Another mutant is looking to build something on the planet as well, but an unexpected visitor puts that at risk.
In the aftermath, tensions continue to mount and Cable decides that a family meeting might be in order for one as Brand pays a visit to Ororo who faces the consequences of a council vote and what it means for the planet. A vote that will send her on a mission to do something different on Arrako. Something that will require help from some unlikely sources.
The Story: Ewing creates an interesting political drama in this first issue. There are some intriguing mysteries within it and some compelling personal moments for the characters. Unfortunately, there isn’t much within this story that connected with me as a reader. There is great dialogue and teases of bigger conflicts, but nothing that screams that I should see what happens next.
The Art: Caselli delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. The characters look fantastic and there is a great sense of the world being built in this series in how it is portrayed visually.
