The Rundown: Beast is taken to Graymalkin Prison and Cyclops assembles his team to rescue him.
Hank McCoy has been captured by Ellis and taken to the former Xavier school now being used as a mutant prison. After he wakes up, he discovers that he is being sold to a foreign dictator for a show trial and execution. Discovering Beast is missing sends Cyclops into a rage and he assembles his team to storm the facility to release Hank.
After Beast discovers Jubilee and one of the new mutants captured as well, the facility is attacked by the X-Men who manage to infiltrate to find their teammate. Cyclops discovers during their raid that they are not the only X-Men team operating.
The Story: I really enjoyed the immediacy of the tension and action throughout this story. Are the actions of the X-Men a little rash, yes but it works for how tense things are for mutants in the post Krakoa era. There is some great action throughout the story and the dark undertones of Ellis continue to be intriguing. I enjoyed the buildup of the action a lot and the end of the issue teases more action and tension to come.
The Art: Stegman’s art is beautifully detailed and brilliantly dynamic both in the character designs and the action itself. A gorgeous looking issue.
