The Rundown: Cyclops and the X-Men take on Dr. Stasis, but it will cost them.
Dr. Stasis has released an army of chimeras out into the city to hunt for someone specific. As the creatures attack New York, the X-Men leap into battle to stop them. With Cyclops in the lead, they manage to either wrangle or stop the creatures from causing more damage, but Stasis decides to send in some reinforcements. Reinforcements that will cause the public fall of one of the X-Men.
In the aftermath, Cyclops and the others find themselves dealing not only with a public relations nightmare, but mistrust of the council as Scott deals with what happened to Ben Urich and the team has to deal with what to do about their formerly deceased member. At the same time, Stasis seems to be one step ahead of the mutants and is preparing for the next part of his plan.
The Story: Duggan creates an entertaining story in this issue. There are some great and intriguing elements throughout the plot and I like a lot of the dark tones of the story. There are some elements that were a little too goofy for my taste, but the humorous moments do work in the context of the story. I like the plotting of the issue and am mildly intrigued with where it’s going with Stasis.
The Art: Larraz delivers some great art throughout the issue. There are some awesome visuals to be found on every page and I was riveted to the progression of the action.
