The Rundown: Two X-Men attempt a psychic rescue and discover an old foe with a new plan.
Kwannon continues to see John Greycrow and their complicated relationship leads to a revelation from Psylocke about her purpose as a member of the X-Men. After returning to the Factory, she and Quentin begin their mission to find a way to stabilize Ben’s mind and discover how his X-gene was activated.
After diving into his mind, the two psychics discover the alien abduction ruse implanted in his head and discover the dark force at the center of the man’s suffering. A familiar face who attempts to push the two psychics out by drawing on their darkest fears and using them to her advantage.
The Story: MacKay creates an entertaining story in this issue. Teaming Psylocke and Kid Omega together is an interesting choice and their banter with each other is great. I like seeing them confront both their fear and their emotions while trying to help someone else and the journey through Ben’s mind was a compelling one that revealed something that makes me excited to keep reading this series.
The Art: Stegman delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. I loved seeing the beauty and details of Ben’s mindscape and Stegman makes Sabretooth looking brilliantly terrifying.
