The Rundown: As the women of the X-Men look to take down a casino, Cyclops and Synch head below the city.
After getting a tip from Rocket and the skinny on their target during Gambit’s poker game, Polaris, Jean, Wolverine and Rogue make their way to Gameworld to bring it down once and for all. At the same time, there are forces at work behind the scenes, including Mojo, who are interested in the outcome of their incursion. As the ladies begin to set their plan in motion, Laura runs into the thing in charge of the planet and finds herself being used against her friends.
Back on Earth, Cyclops and Synch make their way into the sewers beneath the city and split up when Synch realizes that their prey has moved in different directions. Everett ends up taking on one of their enemies alone with some unexpected powers while Scott faces down Dr. Stasis and discovers the truth about their new and powerful enemy.
The Story: Duggan delivers a fun and entertaining story that does a great job of having tension across its separate stories. The Gameworld storyline is interesting and does a great job of showcasing Jean as both a leader and a powerhouse. The Stasis storyline has some great hints about the evolution of one relationship as well as a great reveal that leads to some interesting speculation on what comes next.
The Art: Larraz delivers some outstanding work with the visuals in this issue. Not only do the characters look amazing, but the action is visually thrilling as well.
