The Rundown: An environmental disaster threatens Krakoa and X-Force is tasked with stopping it.
A waste facility explodes sending hazardous material into the local waters and threatening the island. Sage dispatches X-Force to help clean the mess and the team quickly discovers that there is another entity in the area. One that might be there to help rather than harm. Back on the island, Sage and Beast discover that there is a connection to the spill and the creature known as Man-Thing and that he might not be alone.
At the same time, people around the world are finding themselves acting in manners that are not normal for them up to and including murder. All of them seem to be infected with a strange substance and are connected to business entities and governments working with Krakoa. The team travels to the last known location of Man-Thing and discover that he is running from something. Something that is connected to the newest threat to the mutant homeland.
The Story: Percy crafts a good story that continues to expand the world of Krakoa and its characters. The mystery is interesting, but there wasn’t enough of it to keep me engaged. The team dynamic is good. The return of Man-Thing is interesting, but I wanted to see more of the moments towards the end where the enemy plan is being executed. I wish the story had led with those elements because it would have given me more of a sense of immediacy as a reader instead of the passive interest characters like Beast seem to have with it.
The Art: Cassara and Gill deliver some impressive and beautifully detailed art throughout. A great looking issue to be sure.
