The Rundown: Wolverine will face off against both Solem and the Hand for the blade of Muramasa.
Wolverine finds himself surrounded by the Hand with the dead body of Muramasa on the floor and a portal to Hell opened behind him. Leaping into the pit, he finds the swordsmith forging a new weapon using hellfire. When Logan’s body finishes healing, he finds himself in the presence of Solem whom he discovers has a secret that is similar to Logan’s.
As the two men escape from their cell, they agree to work together to find Muramasa and they do so at a ceremony in the depths of Hell itself. A ceremony that reveals not one, but two Murumasa blades for the champions, but Logan’s blade will come at a cost.
The Story: A great continuation of the story Benjamin Percy began in Wolverine #6. The choice to bring both characters together and have them work together for the swords is a great one. It dispenses with wasted conflict and adds a new layer to a character we know little about. Percy strips away the conventional and leaves a story with interesting character conflicts, dialogue and a secret that I really want to discover the answer to.
The Art: Viktor Bogdanovic delivers some impressive and awesome art in this issue. The characters look fantastic and the action is amazing as well. Some of the best visual moments are the ones between Logan and Solem. A great looking issue from start to finish.
