The Rundown: The investigation into the death of a mutant on Mojoworld will uncover a bigger conspiracy.
After taking out a group of wannabe villains, the team confronts Spiral about the dead mutant. After being brought into another television series for the clamoring audiences of Mojoworld, they discover that the victim is someone they know.
When they are taken to another location, the find another familiar face working directly for Mojo and harboring a secret. A secret that only his fellow mutants will understand. One that they must uncover after finding the mutants body.
At the same time, Daken tries to get information from Aurora about the mystery surrounding her own death.
The Story: A fun story that really leans into the strange and interesting world of the Mojoverse. Not only does Leah Williams craft a story that is filled with mystery, but the story evolves well. I love all the reveals and even the continuing mystery of Aurora’s meeting off the island continues to be engaging. Williams is creating a world for these characters where their lives and motives are uniquely engaging. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next and the tie-in conclusion has me excited.
The Art: David Baldeon’s art shines through in not only the action moments, but the character moments especially. The quiet moments between Daken and Aurora are beautifully drawn and laid out. This is a great looking issue and Baldeon has a gift for capturing expression on the faces of characters.
