The Rundown: Alex finds his loyalties split between his mission and the woman he loves.
Alex is trying to do some good with his new team, but Polaris is worried about him joining a government run mutant team and wants him to meet her friends in the Mutant Underground to listen to what they have to say.
After leaving Lorna and joining the rest of the team, Alex is briefed on a new mission which will bring him face to face with the Underground in order to determine if the woman he loves is a spy. A mission that will lead to dark and possibly tragic results.
The Story: Russell crafts some great drama in this issue. The conflict between Lorna and Alex takes some difficult and compelling turns throughout this issue and I love seeing the complexity of those conflicts play out with Alex especially. There is a great buildup of tension and suspense throughout the story and a wonderful moment with the leader of the Mutant Underground that is complex, sad and pertinent. A great story with a wonderfully tragic cliffhanger ending.
The Art: Quinn delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. Not only do I love the character designs, but there is a vibrancy to the visuals that drew me in.
