The Rundown: X-Factor travels to the Mojoverse to investigate a missing mutant dancer.
A mysterious figure invades Krakoa. Slipping past security and the island’s defenses, the figure leaves a mysterious package for X-Factor to discover.
When Aurora arrives the next day, she discovers the package and the team discovers that it contains a pair of blood-soaked ballet shoes. After further investigation, they discover that markings on the shoes are from Mojoverse and the team travels there to find the victim. After a lengthy check in process, the team finds themselves facing a group willing to fight them for ratings while Mojo looks on.
The Story: If there is one thing that can be said about this issue is that it is fun. Even in the face of a murder investigation, Leah Williams still has fun with the characters and their circumstances. It doesn’t hurt that their mission takes them to a ridiculous realm like the Mojoverse. Williams continues to flesh out the characters and their team dynamics and that works to engage the reader and invest them in what happens to these characters. I’m curious how this story will progress, but I was entertained by this issue and the premise.
The Art: David Baldeon is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists with his work in this issue. Besides the dynamic characters and panel progression, the backgrounds come alive with energy and detail. I love the look of this book a lot and the reveal of Mojo was beautifully done. I could see a print of that image hanging from someone’s wall.
