The Rundown: Wynd and his companions find a small moment of peace that is cruelly shattered.
The king sends for his wife when he discovers her betrayal and she tells him exactly how destructive his actions will be for the kingdom and their missing son. As the Queen’s envoy searches for the prince and his group, the group watches over Thorn as he is being treated by the fairies. As the prince and his cousin are brought before the council to discuss their alliance, Wynd is confronted by Oakley about running away.
In the aftermath, Wynd returns to Thorn and has a conversation with the princess about the loss of her mother. When the Vampyres attack, everyone is caught off guard and Wynd will find himself injured and helpless to stop his friends from being taken away.
The Story: A thoughtful and entertaining story from James Tynion IV that continues to keep me invested in this world and its characters. The dialogue is great and the interpersonal relationships are endearing and engaging. There is a great heart to this story and it comes through in every moment of the story. I like the intrigue and the cliffhanger the story ended on.
The Art: Dialynas delivers some impressive art throughout the issue. There are great character moments to be seen as well as beautiful backgrounds that give the reader a sense of visual wonder.
