The Rundown: Prince Yorik has some decisions to make as the time for him to take the throne is at hand and Molly will have some hard truths to tell Wynd about what’s coming.

The king is dying and he has made his final wishes known to his only son and heir. He wants the old ways protected and that means keeping away anyone with magic within them. Yorik turns to his adviser and the two begin the next part of their plan. Unfortunately, the Bandaged Man has been called and he has his own mind about magic.

Molly decides that she needs to tell Wynd the truth. After closing the bar and gathering her children, she tells the young man the truth about how she found him and the fury of the Bandaged Man against anyone with magic. She tells him they will have to leave the city, but Oakley has other plans for her brother. Plans that could put both of them in incredible danger.

The Story: James Tynion IV is building an engaging world with this story and the characters take the forefront. The writing is great and the dialogue draws in the reader and makes them care about the characters, especially Wynd. His conflict is moving and the intrigue building among all the characters keeps the reader involved and interested with each step the story takes. A moving story that teases something big on the horizon.

The Art: Michael Dialynas delivers some great visuals in this issue. The aesthetic is whimsical and fun, but the art doesn’t hold back from emotion especially when Oakley comforts Wynd or when the Bandaged Man confronts Thorn and his father in their home.
