The Rundown: Diana returns home to find herself facing someone she cares about.
Diana wakes up to find her younger self beckoning her to follow. After discovering that she is on Themyscira, she enters the temple when she sees that no one is on the island. As she attempts to get her bearings, she is attacked by someone with a very familiar face and with powers that rival her own.
After a fierce battle, Diana is confronted by both her past and present as she is challenged by her own identity. As she demands answers about where she is and what the people who have her want, she is told why they have her and that her presence could determine the fate of humanity.
The Story: Phillips creates an engaging and entertaining story in this issue. The questioning of Diana’s identity and connection to humanity are great story points and the plot delivers on these points well. The story does feel too short though. I would have liked to see more of the conversation about who Diana is and what she represents. I like how the story ended and look forward to seeing what comes next.
The Art: Hawthorne crafts some great visuals throughout the issue. The characters and action look great throughout.
