The Rundown: With love dying all around her, Diana will find fighting Cheetah to be harder than she imagined.
Diana can’t bring herself to fight back against the swell of hatred all around her. She is almost helpless against the onslaught and that is exactly where Cheetah wants her. Finding her vulnerable and without her weapons, Cheetah attacks and Wonder Woman can barely muster the strength to stay alive. It’s going to take the intervention of an enemy to give her the advantage necessary to stop Cheetah before she kills the Amazon.
At the same time, Maggie returns to find Atlantiades and convince her that her love for Diana and powers as a Demigod might be what’s needed to stop the tide of hate. Diana will also face a dark reality at home when Steve delivers some devastating news.
The Story: Wilson strikes the perfect balance in tone with this issue. The dark moments are sufficiently sad, but there is a glimmer of hope in this story that kept me engaged as a reader. The dialogue is excellent and Diana’s inner turmoil is brilliantly laid out without diminishing the character. I really enjoyed how this story unfolds and each part adds something new and interesting to the overall storyline.
The Art: Scot Eaton has some amazing art in this issue. The fight between Diana and Cheetah is tense and well done. The ending is thoughtful and sad in its tone. A really well done issue.
