The Rundown: Diana will have to use more than just her commitment to truth to bring down Liar Liar.
Maxwell Lord has been attacked in prison and he is hovering at death’s door. Diana and Etta investigate and determine that the attack was personal, prompting them to dig into the records of Max’s daughter. After learning about her past, Etta’s snooping gets the attention of Deathstroke who has been paid a lot of money to shut up anyone looking into those files.
At the same time, Emma finds a way to escape from the hospital she’s being kept in and her delusions have cast her in the role of a noble knight on a quest with Diana standing in for the evil queen. A role Diana might have to embody if there is any way to save the young woman from her own twisted mind.
The Story: Mariko Tamaki takes the story to a new level in this issue. The plot gets bigger, but Tamaki continues to keep it character driven and focused which makes it more engaging. Diana isn’t facing someone that she can just punch into submission and it will be interesting to see what steps the Amazon takes in her attempts to subdue the character with the least amount of harm to her and her fractured psyche. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Rafa Sandoval delivers some stunning art in this issue. There are so many great visual moments throughout and the imagery beautifully transitions between reality and delusion.
