The Rundown: Maxwell Lord decides its time to take revenge, but can his history of lies conquer Diana’s truth?

In the aftermath of Diana’s fight with Count Vertigo, Maxwell Lord managed to slip away and find his missing technology. As the villain contemplates the cruel life he endured, he is more resolved in his mission. As Diana tracks him down, Max springs a trap using Diana’s own mind against her.

As he forces the Amazon to use her own strength against herself, he reveals that his motives for this attack stem from defining moment between the two of them. As he pushes his own powers to their limits, Diana will show him that his lies are never going to be as powerful as the truth.

The Story: Mariko Tamaki brings this chapter to a satisfying close as a new one is teased at the end of the issue. Lord’s turn was inevitable, but seeing the two foes have to work together was a welcome story arc and Tamaki has timed it resolution really well. There are some great character moments throughout this issue and I really loved how it was resolved for Diana and what it means for her going forward.

The Art: Rafa Sandoval delivers some beautiful art in this issue. All of the scenes with Diana fighting for control are beautifully drawn and filled with energy and power. The art matches the tone of the story and gives it a boost with its stunning imagery.
