The Rundown: Diana and Max Lord face off against Liar Liar with Diana’s friends in the crossfire.
It’s a family affair as Liar Liar finally reveals herself to not only be Wonder Woman’s new neighbor, but also the daughter of Maxwell Lord. Having both Max’s powers and access to his tech, she takes control of people close to Wonder Woman and uses them to torture the hero and keep her from acting. At the same time, Liar Liar decides to tell her story to the pair.
After learning who she is and what she’d done, Liar Liar decides that both Max and Diana are liabilities that need to be removed. Unfortunately, something isn’t working when she tries to use her powers on Diana and it looks like it has something to do with Max himself.
The Story: Mariko Tamaki brings this arc to a satisfying ending while also teasing a deeper arc for Max in the future. Liar Liar is a good foil for Diana and has potential to be a unique threat in the future. Max Lord is utilized well and the dialogue plays on their relationship really well. A well done story.
The Art: Carlo Barberi does some great work with the art in this issue. There isn’t a lot of action in the story, but Barberi does some great work with the action there is and effectively focuses on the characters.
