The Rundown: Paula makes her move on Diana as her Horsewomen attempt to bring in a new recruit.
While Diana speaks to kids at a local school about the ideals she learned on Themyscira, Donna Troy is helping a group of citizens escape a building fire. When a familiar voice gets the former Wonder Girl’s attention, Donna finds herself staring down two of the Horsewomen who come to her with an offer.
When Diana discovers she is being spied on, she finds herself transported to an undisclosed location by Paula, who has embraced her new role as Warmaster. The pair square off as Diana tells the woman the truth about why she was saved, but is the truth Diana knew about the Valkyrie attack on her home the real truth or something more? Paula gives the Amazon an ultimatum and a choice about whether to save her new home or her old. Unfortunately, the clock is ticking for both.
The Story: Steve Orlando puts Diana and Donna is a situation with some interesting stakes for them both. Challenging everything Diana believes is a great story idea and this one brings all the uncomfortable truths Diana has believed to the forefront. Attempting to recruit Donna adds another element to the story that has resonance both for Diana, but also Donna’s recent journey. I am intrigued by this storyline and interested to see where it goes next.
The Art: Jesus Merino does a great job with both the action and the characters. The action does an awesome job of showcasing the power of the characters and the details throughout immerse the reader in the story.
