The Rundown: Sara’s life continues to unravel and she throws herself into her work.

Sara’s life is falling apart after her defeat and escape from Kenneth Irons. Not knowing her purpose with the Witchblade or even if she is strong enough to use it, she falls into the arms of Ian Nottingham who tries to train her, but the demands of her personal life make things more difficult and she returns to him again.

After attempting to return to the department to find information from an informant, Sara and her boss find themselves on the trail of a mob enforcer who happens to wield a dark and unusual power. A power that will bring him face to face with Sara and the Witchblade.

The Story: Bennett crafts a brilliantly engaging and compelling story in this issue. Sara continues to be a deeply troubled and complicated character and the drama within the story gives her depth. I love the intensity of Bennett’s storytelling and the world being created in this series. There is great suspense and emotion throughout the story and the cliffhanger at the end of the issue makes me excited to see what happens next.

The Art: Cafaro delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. I love the detailed characters and environments and how the intensity of both interpersonal and external drama are enhanced by the imagery being created.
