Brian Michael Bendis has only been with DC Comics since the beginning of this year, but his tenure with the company is bringing some interesting stories and characters to the publisher. Now there’s news that Bendis stepping up to lead a new imprint for younger readers and it will feature some fan favorite returns.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bendis will curate a new pop up imprint titled ‘Wonder Comics’ for DC Comics. The new imprint will feature four ongoing series set inside the core comic book continuity of DC’s main line. The imprint is said to be inspired by “that moment where you discover who you’re going to be and what your place in life is going to be, but you’re going to have to fight for it.”

The flagship series for the imprint will be Young Justice, written by Bendis and featuring art by Patrick Gleason. The new Young Justice series will feature Tim Drake’s Robin, Connor Kent (the 90’s version of the character) and Impulse. It will also feature new characters like Ginny Hex, a descendant of western hero Jonah Hex as well as a young girl from Bolivia who has found a way to hack into the Green Lantern Corps power battery.

“This is an opportunity to express a lot of themes I was already deal with, with Miles Morales and Riri Williams; that moment of life when everything is at its most passionate. You’re at your most emotional and most powerful,” Bendis said. “It’s literally a list of things people have been screaming at me to bring to DC Comics.”

The line will also feature a return of the classic 50’s series Dial H for Hero, a new series from Bendis, David Walker and Jamal Campbell called Naomi and the return of the Super Friends characters The Wonder Twins from Mark Russell and Stephen Byrne.

The new imprint is set to launch January 2019.
