The Rundown: Annalise finds herself on the run when her father’s past catches up to him.

On the run from a group of dangerous robots, Annalise is finally caught by the machines developed by her scientist father and returned home. As she complains about being unable to actually spend time with her father, she goes exploring and discovers that her father is keeping a man locked up in a secret room.

As her father tries to a find a way to connect with her, his actions have caught the attention of a dangerous organization who make a violent raid on Annalise’s home. A raid that will leave her alone and injured with only one of the robots to protect her.

The Story: Rosenberg creates a thrilling, engaging mystery in this first issue. There is some fantastic world building at play in this story and all of the characters are interesting. There is a compelling mystery being created in this story with the characters, their interpersonal conflicts and their moral ambiguity. The climax of the issue definitely hooked me and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The Art: Landini delivers beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The visual style is perfect for the story and the action is thrilling.
