The Rundown: The crew of the Vihaan II prepare to embark on a dangerous journey into the unknown, but their trip will attract unwanted attention.
Captain Malik and his crew are preparing to begin work on a new body. Moving to an area they won’t be watched, the crew waits for the signal as other ships attempt to escape and are being pursued. With their route relatively clear, Malik gives the signal and the crew escapes. Unfortunately, they are being pursued by someone with a connection to the Captain and his past.
The mission and its dangers are discussed among the crew as they prepare for their current mission. Their personal connections to the Captain and each other will put some of them in an awkward position as they venture into the unknown and possible death.
The Story: Al Ewing continues to draw the reader in with this story and its characters. Without giving away too much of the plot, Ewing makes us care about Malik and his crew while teasing bigger and deeper stories for them as the plot unfolds. With all of the interpersonal conflicts making for a rich and interesting world, I can’t wait to see how the story and its characters evolve as the series continues.
The Art: Simone Di Meo delivers some beautiful art in this issue. There is a wonderfully detailed quality to the panels and Di Meo moves the story along brilliantly with awesome visuals both in the present story and the flashbacks.
