The Rundown: Kurt will have to go to extremes to save Mars and Legion will learn the truth about Onslaught.
After being resurrected, Charles Xavier travels to Mars to confront his son. As he tries to get David to listen to him, Legion is trying desperately to discover what has brought on the return of Onslaught and what it has to do with the mutants of Krakoa. When he finally gets the answers he was looking for, he reaches out to the one person he knows he can trust to do something about it, Nightcrawler.
Unfortunately, Kurt finds himself dealing with Cortez and Lost as the two continue to try and kill each other. Kurt decides that the best way to make them stop is to take some extreme measures. Measures that will force them to communicate. Measures that will also force Onslaught to act. An act that will put the entire planet at risk and cause Kurt to make the sacrifice to save everyone.
The Story: Spurrier does a great job of ramping up the tension between characters throughout the issue. Not only is the tension palpable, but the way it spreads out is interesting as well. There are so many great character moments and interaction especially the ones between Charles and David as well as Kurt and Cortez. The story is entertaining. The characters are engaging and Kurt’s moral dilemmas continue to be a great source of drama in this series. I was impressed with how this story climaxed and what those actions will mean going forward.
The Art: Quinn delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. There is great action and beautifully detailed characters and environments that catch the eye.
