The Rundown: Nightcrawler must help Legion and discovers that there are bigger secrets on the island.
Nightcrawler believes he has found the elusive Patchwork Man after confronting Legion, but the mutant decides the best way to show Kurt the truth is by invading his mind. David finds that Kurt’s mind is conflicted and it might be because of the work of another. After freeing Kurt, David tells him he needs a favor in exchange for helping him discover who attacked his mind originally.
Back on Krakoa, Doctor Nemesis continues his work testing out his psychedelics on unsuspecting mutants. This time his target is Fabian Cortez. As Kurt assembles his team to rescue David, the Patchwork Man strikes again. The team travels to Saudi Arabia where they discover that an Orchis facility has captured David and experimented on him in a way that will make it impossible for them to bring him back to the island in his current condition. Kurt is put in the position of having to make a decision about what to do with Legion before his powers get out of control and take the whole world with him.
The Story: Filled with great action, suspense and humor, Spurrier brings purpose and meaning to Kurt’s existence on Krakoa in some interesting ways. The story is beautifully plotted and full of great dialogue as well. Kurt’s journey is compelling and the immediacy of the story is amazing. I love the way things fell into place and Legion’s presence was perfectly woven into the story. I was impressed and surprised by the reveal of the Patchwork Man and cannot wait to see it explored.
The Art: Quinn does amazing work with the art in this issue. The characters, action and panels are fantastic.
