We Interrupt this Program

The new episode of WandaVision begins with Monica Rambeau returning along with everyone else in the aftermath of Thanos’ defeat. There is some great atmosphere being created as well with the voice over from Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers as Monica re-materializes in a hospital room before trying to make sense of where she’s been and what has happened to her. The scene is even more poignant when it becomes clear who she’s lost in the process.

Monica returns to SWORD with the intentions of reclaiming her old life, but the circumstances of her departure have grounded her from work in space so she finds herself meeting with former SHIELD and current FBI agent Jimmy Woo to investigate the town of Westview. More importantly, to investigate why no local believes the town even exists. All of the background players are brought in including Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) when Monica gets pulled into Westview.

More experts are brought in as the scope of the situation widens and soon they discover the signal that is broadcasting the WandaVision television series. As the episode progresses, all the questions that have been driving fans wild are answered as the investigation continues. Every piece of the puzzle starts to come together while keeping the bigger mystery interesting and just out of reach of the viewer.

As the investigation continues, Darcy and Woo begin the process of identifying the “guest stars” on the series and more interesting that who they identify is who they don’t. I love the fact that they are still able to keep secrets among an episode designed to reveal things. It’s handled brilliantly and I love the pace of the episode as well as the tone of the character performances.

The episode gets even more intense as the search for Rambeau reveals the events that happened outside the episode. Events that show just who is in control of Westview and why. The scene is dark, sad and ominous with the characters playing it pitch perfectly and a quick cut that is disturbing.

The new episode of WandaVision is brilliantly acted, wonderfully paced and filled with great surprises and reveals. I cannot wait to see where the story goes next and just how dark it becomes.

The episode opens with Monica Rambeau and others returning from “The Blip” so the series is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

S.W.O.R.D. is formed by Maria “Photon” Rambeau. Maria is Monica’s mother and best friends with Captain Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.

Monica’s trip to Westview is prompted by a call from FBI agent Jimmy Woo. Woo is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and was Scott Lang’s case agent in Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Darcy Lewis is brought in to assist in the investigation. Darcy was introduced as an unpaid intern to Jane Foster in Thor and returned in Thor: The Dark World.
