Bill Nighy (Shaun of the Dead) stars in the thriller The Limehouse Golem, based on the Peter Ackroyd novel. The movie centers on the Limehouse district in Victorian London. An area teeming with the poorest people, the most violent criminals and an influx of immigrants who find themselves constantly preyed upon by the criminal element.
When a series of grisly murders panics the residents, the populace turns to myth, blaming the murders on the mythical legend of the golem. It’s up to Scotland Yard Inspector John Kildare (Nighy) to investigate the murders and bring them to an end.
The movie is written by Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The Woman in Black screenwriter Jane Goldman and is directed by Juan Carlos Medina (Painless). The Limehouse Golem is scheduled for release September 8, 2017 by Lionsgate.
(Editor’s Note: The late Alan Rickman was originally cast in the role of Kildare, but pulled out of the production due to poor health after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.)
