Deron GenerallyWith many announced movies being delayed until the current crisis is over, there are still announcements of new features being made and one of them is a sequel to Venom.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony has announced the title and release date for the upcoming sequel set in the Spider-Man universe. The official title of the upcoming film is Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The film was originally set to be released October 2, 2020, but it has been moved to June 25, 2021 (the date was formally held by Matt Reeves’ The Batman).
From the title, audiences can expect the Venom sequel to feature the emergence of Cletus Kasady aka Carnage as the main antagonist. Created by David Michelinie and Mark Bagley, Carnage is one of Spider-Man’s deadliest foes. Imbued with the powers of Spider-Man and Venom, serial killer Cletus Kasady has a distinct difference in his relationship with the symbiote, Kasady is in control and uses his symbiote to wreak destruction everywhere they go. Woody Harrelson made his appearance as Kasady in the first Venom film and will reprise the role in the upcoming sequel.
Andy Serkis will direct the upcoming film from a script by Kelly Marcel (Venom, Saving Mr. Banks).
