The Rundown: Jane will take Heimdall on a final journey filled with danger, wonder, mystery and surprise.
Heimdall has made a final request regarding his journey to the afterlife. He wants to see an afterlife he’s never experienced and Jane will be his guide in her role as the last Valkyrie. Unfortunately, the road to Heimdall’s final reward will not be an easy one. Riding her flying horse, Jane and Heimdall skim the surface of the moon as she opens a portal to take them to their first dangerous destination; Heven.
Fighting the warring factions in Heven is only the beginning. Jane finds a portal to their next location; Hades. Finding the dark counterpart of the World Tree, Jane and Heimdall will have to brave the forces of the underworld to ferry the Asgardian to his final reward.
The Story: Al Ewing and Jason Aaron have started another interesting and revelatory journey for Jane Foster. I really enjoy this series and this issue as well both for the story and the exciting visuals. Jane continues to be a compelling and engaging character and it continues to be exciting to see her transition into a new existence as well as her having to deal with the aftermath of the War Of The Realms.
The Art: Each artist beings their unique style to the pages of this issue and all those styles work. The entire middle of this issue is a series of brilliantly beautiful splash pages of different styles working together in visual harmony.
