The Rundown: Things get more intense beneath the surface as both parties run into stranger and more dangerous creatures.
The explorers have been split into two teams with the most of the scientists opting to find their way out through the unexplored caves and many of the military personnel staying behind to try to dig their way out. Unfortunately for both teams, the creatures living in the darkness continue to grow, evolve and more importantly, adapt.
Amelia and her team take a risky road through the dark along with the mysterious little girl they found below. Their journey will have some frightening revelations for the team and the military officers run into more aggressive mutations as the command on the surface tries a find a means of communication.
The Story: The story is intense and filled with both tension and horror. The plot moves a little slowly at times, but Cullen Bunn and Kyle Strahm continue to craft an engaging mystery that I am interested in reading. The scenes outside of the cave tease some interesting additions to the narrative that I want to see explored as well.
The Art: Baldemar Rivas has delivered some beautiful art in this issue. Everything is filled with detail and many of the moments will fill you with visceral dread.
