The Rundown: Ace looks for answers while Val and Charlotte discover some dangerous ones.
Janet and Chang have been installed as the heads of the government and want to know what happened to the rest of their team, especially Ace. As they seek answers for how they defeated America, they are shown where their friends are. At the same time, Ace wants to know what happened as well and finds himself being chased by the forces of Janet and Chang’s government. A chase that will end with him discovering what happened to Val.
At the same time, Val and Charlotte find themselves in the War of 1812 and Charlotte discovers how they can get out of the time loops. They emerge in a new world with an unusual caretaker who wants them to stay. At the same time, Ace and an older Val discuss what happened to the US and he discovers something shocking about his friends.
The Story: Soule and Snyder continue to ramp up the tension in this issue and deliver a story with great depth, emotion and action. I love the complicated and compelling narrative of this series and this issue does a great job of evolving the characters while also creating circumstances that give the reader more to care about with each one. I love how Ace is utilized in the story and cannot wait to see what happens next after the fantastic reveal at the end of the issue.
The Art: Both artists deliver some fantastic art throughout the issue and the art styles beautifully complement each other with awesome visuals and action.
