The Rundown: Oliver discovers a whole new world while his family looks for a way to return to it.

A hand comes down from the sky and returns Oliver to the land of the living, but this time as a toon. As the hand attempts to change things around him, Oliver fights back and as the hand withdraws, Oliver discovers the cartoon world his family comes from and some of the denizens within it. Denizens who have their own plans for the boy as he learns more about where his mother came from.

At the same time, Pecos Peet and Oliver’s mother try to find a way to return to the cartoon world in hopes of finding Oliver and protecting him from the forces that seek to use him as a means of protecting themselves.

The Story: Fleecs continues to delight and surprise with this series and this issue does some brilliant work in moving the story forward along with the characters and their motivations. I like that the story takes time to focus on Pecos and his daughter and their tense relationship while also taking Oliver into a new environment. There are interesting stakes throughout this story and a complicated narrative that keeps me engaged.

The Art: Wachter continues to deliver beautiful art throughout the issue. I continue to be blown away by the visual difference between the toon world and the real one.
