The Rundown: Peter spends time with his family while Fisk brings together his forces.
Peter Parker continues to deal with the return of the Maker, his new suit and powers as well as the revelations made by Tony Stark about his past. At the same time, he has real world concerns with his kids’ birthdays coming up and a job offer from his uncle.
At the same time, Fisk decides to bring in his lieutenants to have a meeting about the new threats to his business in the form of Spider-Man and Green Goblin. A meeting that will gather some familiar faces under one roof to begin their plans to deal with the new heroes in the city.
The Story: Hickman continues to create a wonderful world in the pages on this issue. There is a great balance within the story between Peter Parker as a person and the revelations and threats to Spider-Man and the rest of the world. I like seeing this balance play out because there is an element of tension to it as the reader knows that Peter is diving headfirst into a dark world he has not been prepared for and the dangers all around him make me excited to see what happens in this series. I also like the clock ticking on the return of the Maker and how those events will play into it in the future.
The Art: Checchetto delivers beautifully detailed and emotionally exciting art throughout the issue. I really like the interpretations of the characters in this world and how some are more physically menacing.
