The Rundown: Virgil faces execution at the hands of his friends, but another journey awaits him.
Virgil has been arrested and charged with the murder of McBride, but he was the only one to see that the man was not entirely human. With the rest of the company calling for him to be hanged, he is tied to tree to await his court martial. At the same time, Levon tells nurse Frances was happened to his friend.
As Virgil awaits his fate, spirits from his past call to him and tell him to prepare for a journey. When an unexpected attack puts Virgil in the hands of the enemy, his journey starts to take some strange and supernatural directions.
The Story: Arcudi is crafting an engaging and entertaining story filled with mysticism and mystery. The mood draws you in as well as the characters. There is great dialogue throughout the story and I found myself engaged in Virgil’s past as well as his mission. The story takes some interesting turns throughout and it will be interesting to see where it goes next.
The Art: The visuals in the issue are fantastic. Not only do the characters look great, but there are awesome details throughout every panel. I was impressed by the brilliant use of shadow throughout the issue.
