The Rundown: A woman and her mysterious companion explore death and other mysteries.

Emilia finds herself in a bar in the middle of nowhere. After being talked up by a man she just met, the two of them take his truck to a discrete location. A location Emilia knows the man used to dispose of a woman. After revealing the truth, a mysterious man appears and kills him.

The man turns out to be Emilia’s companion and the pair continue their travel through the country connected to each other, but keeping secrets from the other. A connection that will bring them to a hidden spot where more is revealed, including the fact that they are being followed.

The Story: Valentine creates an interesting mystery in this issue along with an even more mysterious set of characters. I read the issue with several questions about Emilia and her companion because the story is very compelling both in its telling and its characters. I look forward to seeing what happens next and what else is revealed.

The Art: Both artists bring a unique style and visual perspective to the story. The art styles complement each other beautifully and help enhance the mood and tone of the story.
