The Rundown: The Earth is being invaded and the Titans have to take on one of their own.
Blackfire’s invasion force is attacking the planet and the Titans are putting up the best defense they can. Unfortunately, that defense will become more difficult when Blackfire’s secret weapon is unleashed, Conner Kent. Donna takes on the brainwashed Titan and tries to reason with him, but he won’t listen and even her attempts to get him to know who he is have failed.
At the same time, Blackfire continues to go after the Titans and Raven tries one last thing to reach Conner, going into his mind. There she discovers the past between Blackfire and her sister as well as the tactics she used to turn their friend against them. As Blackfire prepares for victory over the planet, she wonders where the only person that could stop her could be.
The Story: Scott delivers an intense and action packed story in this issue. The interpersonal dynamics really sell the story and the issue gives Raven and Conner the spotlight in a way that is compelling to the reader. I like the tension throughout the story and how Starfire’s anticipated return was played up for readers of the series.
The Art: Jose Luis delivers some great, intense and beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. There are some great action panels to enjoy as well as some visually emotional moments.
