The Rundown: Lion-O finds himself having some much needed training with Cheetara.

In the wake of losing the eye of Thundera and the betrayal of Calica, Lion-O is woken up by Cheetara who wants him to follow her out into the woods of Third Earth. Cheetara decides that she must train the lord of the Thundercats not only in combat but in humility as he continues to deal with what he considers personal failures.

As she trains him, she shows him lessons that he needs to learn while also giving him the time and space he needs to confront his doubts and fears in hopes that he will live up to the mantle he finds placed upon him.

The Story: Mooney crafts an entertaining and engaging story that moves Lion-O’s personal journey forward while also giving Cheetara more agency as well as a way to showcase who she is in relation to the rest of the Thundercats. Their interactions and the lessons she teaches are a welcome side story to the main one and allows for the character to have the kind of growth that is necessary. Having those lessons learned during training is a great touch and allows for Lion-O to be humbled while also being seen as the leader he aspires to be while also showing how capable and powerful Cheetara is.

The Art: Mooney delivers some fantastic art in the issue. The story has a dark tone that brilliantly captures the mood and tone of the story.
