The Rundown: Bucky Barnes has a new team and a new mission, kill the Red Skull.
Bucky Barnes has been busy since the destruction of the Outer Circle. Armed with their centuries’ worth of intelligence, he has decided to form a new team with some familiar faces. His first recruit will be the Contessa and when he tells her what he plans to do, she is happily on board.
The pair head to Argentina where their next recruit is already taking out a group of Nazis before joining them to storm the castle of the Red Skull. When another member joins the team, the new Thunderbolts decide to send a message to Schmidt. A final one that will end one threat and awaken another.
The Story: Kelly and Lanzing continue to craft some engaging and compelling stories for Bucky. This new team is interesting and there are some great surprises in the first issue that make me excited about the direction of this story. I like seeing Bucky go after the Skull and how his tactics are more strategic and ruthless. I look forward to seeing where this story goes next.
The Art: Borges delivers some fantastic art in the issue. The visuals are stunning and filled with great action, thrills and excitement.
