The Rundown: The killers escalate their competition as Cece deals with her father.
At the local bar, Cece berates the owner for banning her father from drinking there. At the same bar, Ewing and Dodson are there discussing their friendly competition to become the biggest serial killer in the town. To make matters worse, Ewing is trying to get Dodson to start dating Cece after telling him about her podcast that is tracking their murders.
As they learn the current kill count, the pair continue their competition as things get tense and Cece deals with her father’s attempts to protect her. As they continue to meet and kill, Dodson gets closer to Cece. An act that could spell the end of their game when circumstances take an unexpected turn.
The Story: Starks continues to craft an intense and entertaining story in this issue. There is some great world building throughout the story and the intercuts between the violence and interpersonal drama are beautifully done. I love the rising tension throughout the story and the final moments of the issue are filled with great suspense and a cliffhanger that leaves me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Piazzalunga delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the character designs as well as the use of shadow.
