Thor #6

Marvel Comics

Written by Jason Aaron

Art by Christian Ward

Letters by Joe Sabino

The epic battle for the fate of New Midgard continues as Doom has descended from the heavens to lay waste to everything and everyone with his army of monsters. The daughters of Thor put in all the effort that they can to stop him, but he is infused with the powers of Doctor Strange, Starbrand, Iron Fist and Ghost Rider. As Doom prepares his final blow, Thor returns with Phoenix/Logan by his side.

The two begin an epic battle against a one-man Avengers team as the new world shakes. Thor and Logan fight the would-be god with neither side willing to yield. When Logan makes a sacrifice to give Thor the power he needs to keep on fighting, the world continues to move on as the universe around it is ending. Meanwhile, the worm that has been attacking Ego as he travels through the cosmos finally reveals his identity and it is one that will be a formidable threat to Thor.

Jason Aaron delivers some truly epic action in this issue. I’ve been on the fence about this trip into Thor’s future, but the introduction of Phoenix/Logan and this all-powerful Doom have gone a long way towards making me appreciate and admire the story Aaron is trying to tell. There are some great themes in this issue about the determination of life that give a hopeful spin to the overall story and the reveal at the end of the issue is an absolute joy for fans of these characters. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next issue.

Ward does a fine job with the art and there are some great action scenes that he has imbued with style and beauty. I really enjoyed the look of this issue on many levels.
